Super Reader II...
We got an email a few weeks ago that Sailor was going to be the first to receive an award at the schools first Trimester Assembly in her class for Reading. I told Vanz that I am starting to get a little embarrassed about continuing to do posts that are more brag than anything else, but I also have always intended our blog to be our family's journal, so for the sake of journalistic integrity I am going to post about our Sailor's latest feat.
Sailor is an excellent reader and this isn't the first reading award she has received and as a first grader, she reads at a 4th grade level. It is pretty impressive how much she enjoys it and it has been fun to start to share books with her that I loved to read as a girl.
Sailor and Mrs. W
Sailor's teacher said that Sailor is not only an excellent reader, but has a well developed vocabulary (indeed) and that they love listening to Sailor read aloud because she is so expressive. She also recognized Sailor as being willing to always help her other classmates read as well.
Sailor's biggest fan
We are always proud of her achievements and especially proud of her willingness to share her talent with others.
Proud family minus Daddy who was the photographer
An interesting side-note: Sailor is in class this year with two teachers who share a contract. It has been wonderful. I am going to be so sad when she returns to having one teacher. One of her teachers coincidentally grew up literally in the house behind Vanz and went to grade school with him. Pretty amazing considering the size and location of Glendora. Sailor told us she was the first teacher who could actually pronounce our last name correctly.

Congrats Sailor!!! 4th grade level!! That's amazing!! Holly, do they have her taking AR tests (comprehension tests on the computer for the books she reads)? Our district has that program, not sure if all schools in CA do. I am super impressed! Keep it up Sailor!!
Congrats Miss SUPER READER! Grandma is so proud. Your Mommy was a super reader too. I am so glad that you all have such a love of books.
