Does a spoonful of sugar really make the medicine go down??

For Christmas Vanz got Sailor and I tickets to go see Mary Poppins here in LA. It was an awesome gift and they were phenomenal seats. Sailor and I were both so excited to go. Then everyone got sick. Really sick. Sailor had a horrible cough that was non-stop. I dreaded having to make anyone sit next to her. I doped her up on breathing treatments and cough syrup all day and it seemed to do the trick. The coughing subsided. As we prepared to make our rain drenched trip into downtown LA, Sailor complained that her ear was bothering her. I asked if she wanted to stay home and she was insistent that she wanted to see the show. I gave her a dose of Motrin and off we went. I got some food in her and she seemed to feel much better. The long car ride to the theatre consisted of some of the following conversations:

Ian is Bianca's boyfriend (Kindergarten gossip)

The proper way to put on lipgloss

Does Sailor have a crush on anyone?
"OF COURSE I DO NOT" was the reply. Phew.

Her ear was clogged and it was really "boring"
She meant annoying.

Did I think Miley Cyrus would be at Mary Poppins?

We got to our seats and the complaints about ear pain continued. And continued. And then the tears started. "Mommy, my ear hurts really bad." I told her we should probably go home and then she cried even more because she really wanted to see the show. The pain finally won out and 10 minutes prior to the intermission we "excused me'd" our way down the aisle. One of us sobbing the whole way. I think we made a wise decision because half way home the vomiting started up. Can you imagine if we would have been in the theater?

So if you ask me what I thought of Mary Poppins I will tell you that the almost first half was amazing. I bet the second half was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Poor thing. That must have really hurt for her to want to leave early.
We left at intermission, just because we went to the evening showing and it was just too late to stay out with so many littles.
So neither of our families have seen the second act!
