The Getty Villa
One of the many things I love about Vanz is that he is a great appreciator of the arts. One of our first dates was to the Getty Museum in L.A. and we've visited museums all over the world since then. So, it came as no surprise when a few weeks ago he told us that we were going to a museum. He didn't tell us which one until we got on the road, so I was thrilled to learn he had booked us reservations for the Getty Villa in Malibu. I had seen it before, but didn't even realize it was open to the public. I was a little worried that it might be too much for Sailor or Hobie, but despite all the greek and roman antiquities, they really cater to families. They handed Sailor some special cards with "clues" that she was supposed to look for within the museum and they had a special family area too. Sailor LOVED it. I was so pleased and we had so much fun.
Getting ready to go inside. Sailor was so thrilled that they had a special guide just for her. Hobie was scheming a way to get it for himself.
Posing with a statue
This was without a doubt the highlight of the day. They had a huge screen that projected your shadow and images. They even had a wall of props you could use as well. Not only could you see yourself, but everyone could see you. Long story short...it was a stage. We had to drag her away from it.
Until a tiny mythological elf came and took it from her.
And this little guy was a perfect boy the entire trip (despite the fact that he was supposed to be napping here.)
Thanks V for the fun adventure!
Next stop: Norton Simon to show Sailor the Degas ballet pictures/sculptures.

No, no not the Norton Simon. Doesn't Degas also paint CLOWNS? We know how Sailor is terrified of Clowns. I love the pictures and congrats on bringing culture to your children at an early age.
I think you are mixing Degas up with someone else. He does the ballerinas/stage paintings. Most are in Paris (he's french of course) but there is one at the Nat'l Gallery too. Besides, even if he did do a clown, it would be a french clown which she isn't scared of because they are harlequins.
Remember that funny picture of the ballerina AND clown at the antique store we saw?
Oh THAT'S what you look like Holly! I was beginning to forget seeing as how there isn't a picture on here since you were pregnant!
I miss your face! :)
p.s. Your hair is getting so long!
