COLIC :-(

It is hard to believe that a face this cute can be so miserable a majority of the time, but yes our little one has colic.

Poor little baby cries and cries.  When Sailor was born she was the happiest baby you have ever met.  Really...a dream baby.  I always knew I would never be that lucky twice, but I doubted we would have the opposite extreme.  He has such a sensitive tummy and gets  horrible bouts of gas that just leave him screaming in pain.

I have mastered the art of shopping with a screaming baby while trying to ignore the stares.  I occasionally will get someone sympathetic who asks to help me.  I've had the "it must be lunchtime" comment but mostly I just say really loud to anyone who is in an earshot, "My baby has colic" and they all breathe a sigh a relief that he is not malnourished or that I am an unfit parent.

I get people asking me if I have taken him to the pediatrician and the answer is yes.  I can tell you that he is a specimen of health (other than the colic).

He does not have acid reflux.  Just good old fashioned colic.

I have resorted to trying other things and I have found that THIS awesome swaddling blanket really helps calm him and he has slept much better with it.

I have also been using THIS homeopathic gripe water which seems to help as well.  It looks like tar going in and I won't even tell you how gross it is coming out, but I don't care because it seems to calm him down.

I bought some special drops from the UK as well which I am hoping will arrive in the mail in the next few days.

I have to say that it is so sad to see a baby so unhappy.  And as a parent it is a horrible feeling when you have a crying child and cannot do anything to console them.  I am anxiously counting down to 12 weeks (supposedly the breakthrough to happiness age) to see my sweet little one feel better.  Only 5 more weeks to go!!

And can I just say, first of all we do NOT style his hair like that. It kind of has a mind of its own and second, this photo is NOT photoshopped.  I think those baby blues are here to stay and is my baby really turning into a redhead?

Yeah for the blue eyes, which match his sisters perfectly. A redhead is it possible? Well, in spite of his colic he still is a pretty cute kid. He will almost be through the worst part when you come to Virginia, hopefully.

I'm so sorry. I'm the sympathetic looker in Target who asks if I can help.

I hope things get better... and fast. Hope to see/talk to you soon. I miss you guys.
