POSSIBLY THE WORST IDEA EVER

Anyone who lives in Huntington, or California probably for that matter knows that it poured this morning. Not just sprinkled, but it was stormy and incredibly cold and windy.

The reason I've recounted the weather situation for you is because today is the day I ran the Surf City Half Marathon. I signed up with a couple of friends from preschool and we've been training for a few months. I can say with certainty that the only way our weather could have been worse for the run, would have been if it actually snowed. Despite the adverse conditions, I completed it. I wasn't one of those sissy runners who run a little and then walk and then sprint the final mile. I ran the entire 13 miles and I ran hard. I have the blisters, rashes and injuries to prove it. When I finished I was soaked, swollen (I swell up really bad when I run) and sore! Thankfully, I had an awesome running partner who helped keep me motivated and we trained hills so the course itself wasn't too hard for us. Just wet.

It is also imperative that I tell you that I wouldn't be functioning without my spa. Sitting in the 100 degree bubbles after running in the 50 degree rain was my saving grace. Vanz has taken very good care of me and he brought Sailor out in the rain to meet me at the finish line and Sailor kept telling me how proud she was that I "won my race" (not quite...I was about a hour from winning it). Of course, it also stopped raining the minute I finished the race!

Note: Please don't judge my appearance. I just spend over 3 hours in the pouring rain. As for Sailors appearance. Blame her Daddy for that non-weather appropriate outfit.
