THE LITTLEST HUMANITARIAN

Our ward is helping to sponsor a Kenyan village for the holiday season and we asked Sailor if she wanted to donate any of her toys or clothes. Since she is pretty self absorbed, I assumed she would not be the least bit interested, but was I ever wrong.

She literally has filled over 5 bags (not little bags, but huge overflowing bags) with her things for the "african kids" as she likes to refer to them. She went through her closet and gave clothes and shoes, and not just things that don't fit, but things she actually loves and wears. We donated all her custom outfits that I've made that no longer fit (this is a big deal since no gets the customs! I couldn't bear to part with them, but was so impressed by Sailor's generosity that I gave them up for the "kids") She gave some of her favorite stuffed animals, most of her Disney dolls and almost all of her barbies (including the collector Wizard of Oz set...I had a hard time with that one!) She even gave away almost all of her fancy jewelry to go with some of the costumes she gave the "kids." She also picked out about 25 of her favorite books and donated those as well.

This will be the best dressed and accessorized village in all of Africa! We are so incredibly proud of her. She told me it made her "heart proud" to give all of her things away. Santa will be extra good to our little angel this year!!
